Support and Job Search

I arrived three years ago from Puerto Rico to Springfield Ma.  Even with my college degree, arriving to a new place presented a huge challenge; not being able to obtain employment as quickly as I would have desired. Arriving at the Apostolic Christian Church of Bethsaida was a life changing experience; their youth group leaders immediately helped me with job search, their members received me and have treated me like family ever since. They have been my biggest support in the most difficult moments of my life, I will be eternally grateful.  – Ana H. Grajales

Counseling

I was born and raised in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. At the age of 17, I relocated to the United States as an effort to improve my life, since I suffered from severe depression. As soon as I arrived to the U.S., I began trying to fill the emptiness in my heart by going to parties and drinking all night; I cried myself to sleep asking my self why nobody understood me to the point where I attempted to do away with my life. It wasn’t until I visited the Apostolic Christian Church of Bethsaida in Holyoke, Ma for the first time, that immediately saw the peoples faces and I said to myself, “wow those people have something that I don’t have but that I want”… I was in awe of the way they praised God and the way they embraced me. For God’s glory, I have been a member of their church for a year and I thank God for connecting me to helpful and loving people who form an integral part in my spiritual and emotional development. – Liz Rivera

First, I would like to thank God for leading me to this church where I constantly feel God’s presence in a special way. When I arrived to ACCB I came with a spirit of rebellion; I didn’t want to listen to anyone’s advice and I simply didn’t care. But I thank the Lord for a group of patient leaders and Pastors who are directed by God, who helped and lead me to the heart of God. Many good changes have come about and I know I will continue to grow. - Yanitza Cruz

Since I came to the church at age 7, I have been blessed in many ways but at age 13 I decided to take a different path. This path led me to make many poor choices. A couple of years later, I returned to the Apostolic Christian Church with many emotional and physical scars. I had a negative attitude towards life and people and my conduct was undesirable. I was not approachable at all but my Pastors never gave up on me. Their patience, love, and prayers helped me overcome that difficulty in my life. I’m forever thankful. - Rochellie Garcia

Support

Twelve years ago, as a teen, I came broken, weary and with a history of a variety of deep emotional traumas caused by my past environment and people whom I thought were very close to me. Through struggles, through calamities and in the brink of falling lower than I’ve ever imagined, the congregation, leaders, and pastors never let me fall with their honest support and attentiveness. Today, I’m an actual member of this congregation, and am responsible for the children’s ministry.

I can honestly give testimony that this is a congregation of love and support. If you don’t have a family you will feel like you have a new family in Christ because fellowship and unity are extremely important here. Many tears of supplication have fallen on our altar, and I’ve witnessed people get healed from cancer, people leave addictions and more importantly I’ve seen how God has transformed the broken and mae them whole, happy, and at peace! - Veronica Rivera

Anti-Drug Counseling and Support

Being a member of ACCB has been a great blessing. In 2007, I arrived at a very young age, addicted to really bad drugs. My appearance was not the best but the church members received me with open arms and with a lot of love helped me overcome my drug addiction. Let me tell you, I was weak and I relapsed many times but the church members never gave turned their backs on me; on the contrary, they lent me a hand and lifted me up. I have been drug free for over two years. I am now a man of good standing, with a loving wife, family and my very first son; thank you God! – Angel Cruz
